LOGLINE
After being bullied into making iron wheels for his upper caste peers, BHYAL (12), a lower caste black-smith boy and his upper caste friend LABA (11), are compelled to break social conventions by taking matters into their own hands.
SYNOPSIS
The twelve-year-old Nepalese boy Bhyal works as a village blacksmith. But as a member of the lowest caste, he is an untouchable person and is mistreated by his classmates. Only his friend Laba dares to break the rules.
WHEELS ON THE BUS premiered at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival (Generation Kplus) and was later selected for Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, DokuFest, Ale Kino, and the Hanoi International Film Festival, where it won Best Director in the short film category.
